Donecle has announced that AAR, a leading independent MRO provider in North America, has selected its automated drone solution to improve the efficiency and reliability of visual inspections during base maintenance.
- Donecle provides its drone to AAR to assist general visual inspections on both Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 families.
- The solution will help optimizing maintenance activities, increase workers’ safety and ultimately better serve AAR’s customers
- AAR is Donecle’s first MRO customer in the US and the first one to use the drone operationally on Boeing 737
Following prior tests in its facilities, AAR has decided selected Donecle’s automated drone solution for visual inspections of the narrow body aircraft it maintains in Miami, Fla. Donecle says it has also delivered the latest release of its software which includes updated advanced analysis algorithms for defect detection. With this software, inspectors can perform aircraft inspections. Damage as small as 1mm² can be detected on the images and are precisely positioned relative to airframe structural elements, for a better assessment of the criticality of the defect and to better plan subsequent maintenance job cards. Reports are then automatically generated and stored on Donecle’s cloud for full traceability.
“We are very proud to support AAR in its innovation process aiming at better serving its customers and keeping its position as a leading independent MRO in the USA and worldwide, while contributing to its internal digitization process,” says Josselin Bequet, CEO and co-founder of Donecle.
Beyond saving time and workload, the solution also contributes to increase worker safety. Technicians who usually have to work at significant heights to perform inspections would not have to do so when using this solution. Operators monitor the drone’s mission directly from the ground.
“As part of our continuing commitment to driving real business value using emerging technology, AAR is excited about this new partnership and the capabilities Donecle brings. We will continue to look for ways to drive efficiencies and maximize the value of our skilled labor and look forward to continued partnership from OEM’s and regulators in maximizing the value these technologies can create.” says Matthew Kammerait, director Digital Product Management, AAR.
With more than seven sites for airframe maintenance located in North America and 1 future site to be located in India, AAR is the largest independent MRO service provider in North America and one of the leading MROs worldwide. AAR offers multiple services to civil and military organizations globally from airframe services to parts supply as well as a wide range of innovative and digital services.
AAR is added to a list of existing customers and partners of Donecle such as Air France Industries KLM, Austrian Airlines, Dassault Aviation and several other airlines and MROs in Europe, North America and South America.
