All Electric Cessna 208B Grand Caravan Flies

The largest electric powered aircraft flew for the first time in late May when a Cessna Grand Caravan powered by a Magnix Magni500, a 750hp all-electric engine. Magnix teamed with AeroTEC who did the engine swap.

Magnix says the Grand Caravan with the Magni500 engine could carry four or five people up to 100 miles.

Late last year, Harbour Air flew a Magni500-powered de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, another Magnix project and those two companies are working toward certification of the aircraft in that configuration.
