Kearfott Named 2020 Cogswell Award Winner by DCSA for Industrial Security

Kearfott Corporation has been selected as a recipient of the 2020 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA).

Kearfott’s Guidance & Navigation Division in Woodland Park, New Jersey was one of 61 facilities chosen for the award out of approximately 12,500 cleared facilities.

The award selection focuses on industrial security excellence, including establishing and maintaining a security program that far exceeds the basic National Industrial Security Program requirements; as well as providing leadership to other cleared facilities in establishing best practices while maintaining the highest standards for security.

“Keeping classified information safe is of the utmost importance for the work Kearfott does with the United States Government,” said Murray Kennedy, president of Kearfott Corporation.  “We are honored to be recognized by the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency and are proud of the work our security team does managing its outstanding security program.”

The award was established in 1966 in honor of the late Air Force Colonel James S. Cogswell, the first chief of industrial security within the Department of Defense. Cogswell was responsible for developing the basic principles of the Industrial Security Program, which includes an emphasis on the partnership between industry and government to protect classified information. This partnership ultimately ensures the greatest protection for the U.S. warfighter and our Nation’s classified information.
